Conductor’s Note

Welcome to Monster Mayhem!

In the summer of 2021, still amid a partially covid-shutdown world, we began brainstorming what Pop Choir would look like post-pandemic and how we could perhaps ease us all back into communal music-making, something we hadn’t done for a year and a half. We decided to launch a set of one-month mini-terms for the fall, and since our October mini-term would be contained unto itself, what better time to do a Halloween theme, something we’d never been able to do in the past since historically, our fall concert happened in November? Well, we had a blast. We sang some beloved creepy songs, and I know I wished we could have done even more. Fast forward to 2023, and thanks to a slightly earlier-than-usual fall concert date, we’re getting the chance to live out our haunted Halloween dreams (or nightmares?) and put on an entire concert of frightening favorites for you to enjoy. There’s a little bit of everything tonight - potions, ghosts of the past, and even a dance party at the end that we hope you’ll join in on. If you’re sitting out there tonight and think, “I think I’d like to be up on that stage next time!” we’d love to have you! Our winter term, “Light It Up,” starts in January, and registration is open now. Head to our website for more info, or find me after the show if you have questions. We hope you have a ghoulishly good time!
